Renée Micoulaud

We met Renée last spring in Biniaraix, a small mountain village, at Bar Bodega, a cherished restaurant run by friends. She was seated nearby, and when we began talking, her warmth was immediate and magnetic. She invited us to her home for tea, just a few minutes away. As we climbed to her rooftop, with sweeping mountain views unfolding before us, I found myself captivated not just by her home and work, but by her presence itself. Her vitality and generosity drew me in completely.

That afternoon, I asked if I could photograph her for Datura’s Member Styles. She agreed without hesitation. When she asked me to guess her age, I underestimated by fifteen years - and when she revealed the truth, she made me promise to keep it secret. I remain loyal to that promise, but I will say this: it’s utterly inspiring and speaks volumes about how she lives.

Renée embodies a fearlessness that few possess. She moves fluidly between Mallorca, Barcelona, Paris, and Cadaques - living independently, traveling the world, and surrounding herself with a big family and devoted friends. What sustains her luminous energy is simple: her work, her connections, her travels, and an unwavering independence. She does everything on her own terms, and that freedom is the key to experiencing life fully.

Her artistic practice draws deeply from the territories explored by Miró and Rimbaud. Through mixed media and recycled objects, she creates works that blur the boundaries between painting and literature, layering texts, textures, and visual language into something both beautiful and evocative. Blue dominates her palette, while poetry, literature, and music by artists like Rimbaud, Miró, and Chopin weave through her pieces. Her work has been exhibited across Spain, the UK, and France, part of collective shows that celebrate her unique vision.

Independent, vital, full of stories, Renée is living proof that fearlessness and creativity are the truest sources of light.

Renée pairs the Pistacho Dupion Judo Pants first with the Amber Dupion Ren Blouse, and then with the Pearl Silk Velvet Ren Blouse. She then wears the matching Butter Heavy Boiled Wool Cassia Coat and Judo Pants with the Egyptian Blue Striped Paul Shirt.
