Katharina Herold
We visited Katharina at her home in Mallorca, an 18th-century townhouse in the town of Felanitx.
Katharina is an art dealer, curator, and designer. She grew up exploring her father’s cabinet of curiosities and bought her first painting at auction when she was fifteen. She arrived in Mallorca by chance during the pandemic and decided to stay, drawn to the local traditions and artisanal crafts.
Ca'n Llevadora, an old mansion directly facing the baroque facade of the local church, is where she houses everything under one roof. Katharina modernized the essentials but kept the original, slightly chaotic layout. Today, the building functions as her private home, an appointment-only gallery, and an artist residency.
The space is the exact opposite of a traditional white box gallery. Katharina developed her own natural pigment paints for the walls, inspired by Renaissance frescoes. The rooms are filled with antiques, contemporary art, and structural pieces she designs herself. Because almost everything is for sale, the house is in a constant state of mutation. When a piece leaves, the space transforms again.
The kitchen is the center of her daily life. It features stone arches, a large yellow stove, a three meters marble dining table, and a vintage red VW car parked in the corner. She arranged the gallery walls there alongside her artist in residence, mixing artworks from the 17th century to the present. It is a space where neighbors gather, clients stay for dinner, and vintage movies are screened.
For Katharina, beauty is meant to be incorporated into everyday life. She blurs the lines between art and interior design, wanting people to feel completely at home while surrounded by these pieces.
Katharina wears the Lapis Linen Godet Slip Dress layered under the Caramel Dupion Wrap Top. She also wears the Pistacho Dupion Echo Dress, a limited design in this color, and pairs the Rose Quartz Dupion Paul Shirt with the Lemon Butter Dupion Judo Pants. Later, she styles the Caramel Dupion Wrap Top reversed, worn with the matching Pareo Skirt. Lastly, she wears the Lapis Linen Babel Dress.
