Claudia
del Olmo

Claudia de Olmo was born and raised in Mallorca, so she’s been surrounded by different cultures since childhood. Claudia attended an English school, has an American mum who´s half Japanese and half Italian, and a dad who is Spanish but grew up in Belgium. Her parents always pushed her and her sister Isabella to get to know different parts of the world and cultures, and they travelled a lot.

After finishing her multidisciplinary design studies at Goldsmiths in London she worked in various creative roles in London and Paris.

When she discovered the art-residency Villa Lena in Tuscany she thought, “Okay, this is exactly what I want to do” and moved there to get an overview of the entire place. While she was there, she met the owner of Numeroventi, another residency in Florence, where she interned for a month.

While there the idea of Casa Balandra began to take shape, a unique place to welcome artists, island visitors and locals, a space celebrating multiculturalism, creativity, relationships and moments of indulgence. So Claudia and her sister Isabella, with their friend and long-time collaborator Cécile Denis, started to make their dream come true. They renovated their childhood home into a beautiful and unique house, in Pórtol, in the middle of Mallorca.

“Casa Balandra is a creative residency & guest house on the island of Mallorca. A space to share, create and celebrate conviviality. A space in which to enjoy every moment of the day, without the need to go anywhere or do anything other than what you are doing. Indulging truly in every meal, every conversation, every song… La Casa is crafted around this very concept; simple but significant moments.

If you love art, culture, and sharing special moments you should visit this beautiful place where residencies from interdisciplinary painters, photographers, sculptors, writers, and musicians are all inspiring each other.
“In the future, we want to explore possibly connecting all past residents, with the idea being that the more people connect, the more collaborations will flow. We think feeling like a part of something is essential to being happy in life, and we really want our residents to feel like Casa Balandra is their home on the island of Mallorca, that they can always come back to.

So, Casa Balandra is the perfect place where to have a relaxed and unique residence surrounded by culture and art.

We met Claudia there and she wore the Oro Silk Velvet Ren Blouse and the Night Blue Wool Karate Pants, later the Olive Green Striped Cotton Ren Shirt and Citron Judo Pants and lastly the Empyrean Linen Blue Ren Jumpsuit.
